With the Mindbreeze Extension, you as a Mindbreeze InSpire customer can additionally retrieve internal company information when searching the Internet. Mindbreeze automatically stores the link to the internal search environment you are using as soon as you call it up for the first time.
The extension can be downloaded for Google Chrome here and for Microsoft Edge here.
In 5 simple steps, a wizard will guide you through the installation process.
In the first step, you can enter the Insight App URL if you know it. However, if you do not know this URL, Mindbreeze automatically detects if you are on a supported website and automatically deposits this URL.
This setting is necessary so that the browser extension knows the correct search page.
In addition, you can also set the query URL parameter yourself, if this has been customized in your application. By default, this parameter is "query" and is used to automatically perform a search with the correct keyword when the search page is called.
The second step explains how to pin the extension to your toolbar so that the extension is always visible and immediately accessible.
After you pin the extension, it will appear in your toolbar as follows:
In the next step, you define whether searches are automatically submitted to all websites or whether you want to submit Mindbreeze searches together with searches on search engines such as Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.
If you want to search for information in your company on any website, select both options ("Activate Mindbreeze during a search in the default search engine" and "Activate Mindbreeze when visiting a website").
The results are displayed either via a pop-up or via the Insight App in a new tab. With "New Tab", your Insight App opens in a new tab as usual. With "Pop-up", you can display the Insight App without having to leave the current web page.
If they want to open the hits in a pop-up, make sure the Insight app is responsive.
This completes the installation. If you already have an Insight App URL, make sure you are logged in if your application requires this.
After that you can use the extension directly.
All settings can then be adjusted via the settings.
All settings that were set during the installation process can be adjusted via the extension options.
In Google Chrome, for example, this works as follows:
Open a new tab with the following address: chrome://extensions/
You will see a list of all the extensions you have added.
Clicking on "Details" opens another window where you can click on "Extension options".
In the window that opens, you can adjust all the settings, such as changing your Insight App URL.
After the settings are adjusted, click "Save" to save the changes.
The extension is compatible with the browsers "Microsoft Edge" and "Google Chrome".
If configured by the administrator, the extension accesses a managed storage property ("url"). This makes it possible to roll out the extension in the company with an already defined Insight Application URL.
To roll out the extension in the Google Chrome browser, for example, ADMX templates are required first. These can be downloaded directly from Google. https://chromeenterprise.google/browser/download/#manage-policies-tab
The chrome.admx file must be copied to the following location:
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions
In the same directory where the extracted policy files are located, open the appropriate language folder for your location (for example, en-US) and copy the chrome.admx file to the appropriate folder under PolicyDefinitions:
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
New Google Chrome entries should now be available in the "Group Policy Management Editor" under "Administrative Templates".
To distribute and automatically install the Mindbreeze Browser Extension by default, the list of installed apps and extension must be adjusted.
This setting can be made under "Administrative Templates" -> "Google Chrome" -> "Extensions”.
"Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions" is the name of this setting and is opened by double-clicking. First, the extension is set to "Enabled". After that, the content can be displayed via the "Show..." button.
The following value (consisting of extension ID and the update URL) must be entered here:
ejlaikiclffdgdnpjhgikiefnnaajgdi;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx
With a click on OK the setting is applied.
To create a "Managed Property" navigate in the Group Policy Management Editor to "Computer Configuration" -> "Preferences" -> "Windows Settings" -> "Registry". With a right click -> "New" -> "Registry Item" add a new registry property
In the new window, all options can take the default value, except for the "Key Path" field. Here the following value is entered and then confirmed with "OK”.
SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\3rdparty\extensions\ejlaikiclffdgdnpjhgikiefnnaajgdi\policy
As a last step, add a new registry property with the following values:
Key Path | SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\3rdparty\extensions\ejlaikiclffdgdnpjhgikiefnnaajgdi\policy |
Value name | url |
Value typ | REG_SZ |
Value data | Your Insight App URL (e.g. https://search.yourcompany.com/apps/client/) |
In the "Group Policy Management Editor" there should now be two new entries.
The new registry keys should now propagate to the client computers affected by this Group Policy object. In Google Chrome, you can verify that the settings are correct by going to the chrome://policy page and clicking the Reload Policies button.
