    Reporting Query Log

    IntroductionPermanent link for this heading

The Personalized Relevance Transformer plugin can also be used to create reports on search behavior. The following functions are supported:

    • Filters
      • by application
      • by date
      • …
    • Search statistics
    • Timeline with details (queries and actions)

    InstallationPermanent link for this heading

The plugin is already included in Mindbreeze InSpire by default and therefore does not require any additional installation.

    PreconditionsPermanent link for this heading

See Configuration - Personalized Relevance - Preconditions

    ConfigurationPermanent link for this heading

In Configuration - Personalized Relevance - Configuration you will find the necessary configuration steps.

If you are only interested in the reporting feature and do not want to activate personalized relevance, perform the following steps:

    1. Open the "Configuration" section of the Mindbreeze Management Center and click on the tab "Indices". Add a new service in the "Services" section by clicking on the "+ Add Service" button. In the list "Service" select the plugin "PersonalizedRelevanceTransformer".
    2. To improve the performance set the value in the “Boosting Data Cache Refresh Interval Seconds” option to 0. If you use the PersonalizedRelevanceTransformer also for relevance optimization, you may not change this option.
    3. Optional: configure the option "Application Definitions".
    4. Optional: configure the "DB Connection Settings".
    5. Optional: configure the "DB Schema" (Advanced Settings must be enabled)
ATTENTION: If you are using a G6 appliance, you must adjust the value of the “Table Name” option, see Personalized Relevance – DB Schema.

User InterfacePermanent link for this heading

You can find the user interface of the query logs in the Mindbreeze Management Center in the menu "Reporting", submenu "Query Logs".

If you are using a G6 Appliance, you can add the URL to the Reporting Service via resources.json. By default, this feature is only visible in CentOS7. The URL looks like this:

    “:8443/index/<YOUR SERVICE BIND PORT>/api/reporting/index.html”.

You can find the corresponding service Bind Port in the Services Settings.

Here you can find the documentation how to add a menu entry: Managementcenter Menu

Settings and FiltersPermanent link for this heading

Settings and filters can be used to customize the displayed search statistics and timeline.

Change Server TimezonePermanent link for this heading

UTC is selected by default. If the times displayed in the timeline differ from the actual times, the time zone can be adjusted here.

Select ApplicationsPermanent link for this heading

You can use this filter to restrict by applications as defined in the Personalized Relevance Transformer "Application Definition" configuration option.

Search SettingsPermanent link for this heading

Two options are available that can be used independently of each other:

    • Show all sessions without actions
    • If enabled, only sessions where no action was performed will be displayed. E.g. (opening, previewing a search result, etc.).
    • Show all sessions with at least one query less than or equal to N results
    • If enabled, only sessions with queries that returned N or fewer results are displayed. N can be configured.
    • For example: If enabled and 10 is selected, only sessions where searches with 10 or fewer results will be displayed

Date FilterPermanent link for this heading

You can use the date filter to restrict the time ranges.

In the yellow marked area in the screenshot, preset ranges can be selected.

In the area marked blue in the screenshot, time ranges can be selected in two different ways:

    • Select a time period by holding down the left mouse button, selecting an area, and releasing the mouse button.
    • Mark a period by selecting two date values with one mouse click each.

Days marked in grey are not selectable, as no searches were made on that day.

Search StatisticsPermanent link for this heading

Depending on the settings and filters, the following information is displayed:

    Search Count

    Number of searches

    Action Count

Number of actions (preview, open hits)

    Average Searches Until Action

Average number of searches until an action was performed

    Max Searches Until Action

Maximum number of searches until an action was performed

    Page Next

Minimum, average, and maximum number of additionally requested pages per query.

    Seconds Between Queries

Minimum, average and maximum time interval in seconds between individual queries

    Seconds Between Action and Query

Minimum, average, and maximum time interval in seconds between actions performed and the next queries being sent.

    Total Result Pages

    Total number of pages requested

    Average Searches per Hour

Average number of searches made per hour

    Adopted Searches Count

Average number of searches in which an action was performed

    Abandoned Searches Count

Average number of searches in which no action was performed

    Documents Previewed

Number of preview actions carried out in total

    Searches with no Results

    TimelinePermanent link for this heading

The Timeline is divided into two sections:

    1. Upper area (summary): Number of sessions, queries, and actions per hour or day.
    2. Lower area (detail view): Detailed view of the sessions of the selected hour or day.

    SummaryPermanent link for this heading

The following key figures are displayed:

    • Grey bar: number of sessions for this day / hour
    • Blue bar: number of queries for this day / hour
    • Orange bar: number of actions for this day / hour

These key figures are displayed for each subsequent time unit:

    • per hour if only one day is selected in the date filter
    • per day if several days are selected in the date filter.

In the area marked yellow in the screenshot, sessions, queries and actions can be shown or hidden by clicking on the respective type.

By clicking on any bar of a day or hour, the detailed view of the respective hour or day is displayed.

Detail ViewPermanent link for this heading

The detail view displays information on all sessions, grouped by user.

The displayed bars have four different colors to distinguish the type of information:

    • Blue: Search and browse to next page
    • Red: a search that did not return any results
    • Orange: Open or preview action
    • Grey: marks the end of the session

By moving the mouse over a bar, a tooltip with further information is displayed.

You can zoom in to see more details at a certain time. A time range can be marked by holding down the left mouse button, selecting a range and releasing the mouse button. To return to the normal view, click the "Reset zoom" button.
