    Restoring to As-Delivered Condition
    Recovery ISO, Recovery Stick

Method 1: Recovery ISOPermanent link for this heading

    IntroductionPermanent link for this heading

This document deals with restoring your appliance to as-delivered condition using the recovery stick provided. Please note that this procedure deletes everything on the appliance including all your data and files.

    PreparationPermanent link for this heading

This chapter deals with the preparatory steps necessary to restore the appliance to its original as-delivered state.

Connected via cablePermanent link for this heading

Make sure the Mindbreeze InSpire appliance network interfaces (NICs) are connected via a cable. At a minimum, the connection of the iDRAC interface and one of the host NICs is required. By default, the Mindbreeze InSpire NICs are configured to DHCP. Below you can see how to use iDRAC to obtain the host MAC address for reserving a DHCP lease.

Configuring the IP address on the iDRAC interface (physical access required)Permanent link for this heading

After successfully connecting, you can see the IP address of the iDRAC interface locally on the LCD panel by selecting the following menu:

    • Home > View > iDRAC IP > IPv4 | IPv6 and select IPv4 (if this is the case).

    Front Panel LCD IP

For instructions on the front LCD panel, please click here:
    http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/extras/w/wiki/3869.lcd-info-screen-and-led-alert-panel-on-poweredge-12th-generation-servers#Setting

With this information, you can determine from the DHCP server which IP address has been leased for the network interfaces.

If DHCP is not available for the iDRAC network interface, the IP address can be set manually through the front LCD panel:

    • Navigate from the Home screen to the Setup screen and select the Static IP tab:
      Home > Setup ->iDRAC -> DHCP | Static IP -> IP: 192.168.2.12
    • After configuring IPv4, the subnet mask and gateway can be configured in the same menu:
      Home > Setup > iDRAC > Static IP - >Sub: 255.255.255.0
      Home > Setup > iDRAC > Static IP - >Gtw: 192.168.2.1

The front LCD panel of the server can be used to list the MAC addresses of the host interfaces. To display the MAC addresses, follow these steps:

    • Home > View > MAC >iDRAC| iSCSI1 | iSCSI2 | iSCSIn | NET1 | NET2 …NETn.
The NET1..N interfaces are the host network interfaces here.

Option 1) Configuring the IP address of the host interface via DHCPPermanent link for this heading

If DHCP is available, the MAC addresses (known either from the previous step or through the iDRAC Admin Portal https://<iDRAC_IP>: 443) can be used to identify or reserve the relevant DHCP leases and thus obtain the IP addresses.

IP Address Configuration of the Host Interfaces via DHCP

Option 2) Configuring the IP address of the host interface via iDRACPermanent link for this heading

If DHCP is not available to automatically transmit the network settings to the host network interfaces, the network settings for the interfaces can be applied by connecting to the virtual console through the iDRAC web interface (https://<iDRAC_IP>: 443).

Enabling the Java consolePermanent link for this heading

Restoring the ISO image can only be done via the iDRAC Java console. Please make sure that it is activated as shown in the screenshot below and continue with item 4.
