With the help of filter plugins it is possible, among other things, to generate thumbnail images. These are active by default. If additional properties are to be adjusted, these filter plugins must be added in the Management Center in the Filters tab under Global Filter Plugin Properties. The following filter plugins can generate thumbnails among others:
FilterPlugin.ExtractThumbnailImageContentFilter | for office documents |
FilterPlugin.ImageIO | for pictures |
FilterPlugin.WebPageThumbnailGeneratorContentFilter | for web sites |
FilterPlugin.PDFPreviewFPDFFilter | for PDF documents |
More information about Filter Plugins can be found in Documentation – Mindbreeze InSpire: “Filters” tab.
To get thumbnails for all Office formats, LibreOffice is required.
Install LibreOffice_4.2.7_Win_x86.msi from the delivered Prerequisites.
Extend the Windows system path %PATH% by the path to your LibreOffice installation:
For example C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 4\program
The Mindbreeze SFX Installer installs LibreOffice automatically. No further steps are necessary to create thumbnails with Libreoffice under Linux.
Disable LibreOffice Thumbnails | With this option the filter can be switched off before each indexing. |
Number of LibreOffice Instances | The number of available processor cores determines the number of instances of the preview image filter. With the option "Number of LibreOffice Instances" this value can be changed to achieve better performance or less utilization. |
Thumbnailwidth | The width in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
Thumbnailheight | The height in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
The ImageIO filter is responsible for the generation of thumbnails for images.
Disable color calculation | If active, the calculation of occurring color values is suppressed. Otherwise, the following metadata is set:
| ||||||||||||
Enable dominant color calculation | When active, a more sophisticated algorithm is used to calculate the dominant color. However, this may result in more time being spent filtering images. In addition, only the dominant color group is calculated and the other color groups are ignored.
thumbnail width | The width in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200)
thumbnailight | The height in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
The WebPageThumbnailGeneratorContentFilter is responsible for generating thumbnail images for Web sites.
Thumbnailwidth | The width in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
Thumbnailheight | The height in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
The PDFPreviewFPDFFilter is responsible not only for generating preview images for PDF documents, but also for generating additional metadata:
Disable Thumbnails | If active, no thumbnails are generated. |
Disable Preview Content | If active, no preview of the content is generated. The preview source can also be defined using the Option „Fetch Preview Content from Datasource“. Its description can be found at Microsoft File Connector - Additional Settings. |
Max Layout Annotations Per Page | This option is left blank by default, which means that no annotations are indexed in the PDF document (such as fonts). If a number is specified, at most as many annotations per PDF page will be indexed. However, for performance reasons, we recommend that you leave this option empty. |
Number of Instances | The number of available processor cores determines the number of instances of the preview image filter. With the option "Number of Instances" this value can be changed to achieve better performance or less load. |
Thumbnailwidth | The width in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
Thumbnailheight | The height in pixels of the generated thumbnails (default value: 200) |
PDF Meta Keys (in Addition to Defaults) | Strict-separated list of metadata to be extracted in addition to the standard metadata. |
If “disable preview content” is enabled PDF-Previews are not stored in the index. This reduces the disk space requirements of the index. PDF-Previews can be fetched from the datasource instead by enabling the option „Fetch Preview Content from Datasource“ in the Microsoft File Connector.
Fetching the PDF-Previews from the index can be faster in some cases.
